Kiez Oper: Insanity - Live opera at Stattbad
KIEZ OPER IS BACK!
TWO NIGHT RUN - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY 22ND AND 23RD FEBRUARY
BOTH NIGHTS: DOORS AT 20:00, SHOW AT 22:00
Kiez Oper is back and once again will be bringing you something completely unique. Opera where you least expect it. For everyone. Featuring world class singers, musicians and performers - all for the normal price of entry to Stattbad.
This show will be a completely new narrative creation titled 'Insanity,' and will only ever be performed on these two dates. In a giant swimming pool.
The audience will experience an hour long performance featuring music (some of it over 400 years old) from : Gesualdo, Handel, Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bach, Britten & more. This, some of the greatest music ever composed, will be brought to life with a new twist not just in the location, crowd and price, but also the show and staging.
You will witness the dark, disturbing tale of a woman's descent into madness, as she struggles to deal with a mysterious and tragic event in her past. The timeless theme of insanity will be explored with a modern twist, evoking the chaos of a tortured consciousness.
Featuring several members of the prestigious International Studio at the Berlin Staatsoper, with an International cast of singers sourced from around the world. Backed by a full Baroque ensemble, using authentic instruments and led by Jorge Jimenez. The show will be staged by one of Britain's most exciting young directors, Andy Staples and produced by Alex J. Eccleston and Rowan Hellier.
There will be a free after party in Stattbad on the Friday night. After the show on Saturday, the crowd from the opera will have exclusive first access to buy tickets for an frankly insane line-up of some of the world's foremost electronic music artists including: Nathan Fake (live), Ralf Kollmann, Meggy, Redshape (live), Kassem Mosse, Subjected & more!
This is going to be one of the most exciting and unique projects happening this Winter in Berlin. We hope to see you there!
